A varistor is an electronic component with a significant non-ohmic current-voltage characteristic. Topdiode VAR Series of transient voltage surge suppressors are radial leaded varistors (MOVs) designed for use in the protection of low and medium-voltage circuits and systems. For example, the solid-Polymer capacitor shwoing as WPA470603, which represents the capacity of 470uF, and 6.3V represents the withstand voltage of 6.3V. This kind of electrolytic capacitance has positive and negative polarity. Generally, it will be marked with "-" (negative pole) on the package surface, or it can be distinguished by color band.

Solid state capacitors can still work normally in high temperature environment, and maintain various electrical properties. The change of capacitance is less than 15% in the whole temperature range, which is obviously better than the liquid electrolytic capacitance.
