由于固态电容采用导电性高分子产品作为介电材料，该材料不会与氧化铝产生作用，通电后不致于发生爆炸的现象；同时它为固态产品，自然也就不存在由于受热膨胀导致爆裂的情况了。固态电容具备环保、低阻抗、高低温稳定、耐高纹波及高信赖度等优越特性，是目前电解电容产品中最高阶的产品。由于固态电容特性远优于液态铝电容，固态电容耐温达260度，且导电性、频率特性及寿命均佳，适用于低电压、高电流的应用，主要应用于数字产品如薄型DVD、投影机及工业计算机等，近年来也被电脑板卡产品广泛使用。其实贴片电容本质上与引线插件式电解电容并无分别，它们之间的差别仅仅在封装或者说是焊接工艺上面。
